okay. ya. so u feel my excitement now. ;D

hmm. today i had a very convicting devotion. though of sharing my thoughts here. the passages that i read from the Bible today convicted me as a Christian and enabled me to see things at a different light.

today i did precepts. Genesis 3, Rev 20:1-11, and Rev 12:1-17. i truly encourage you all to read these 3 passages if you can. Otherwise, the impact may not be there.

THese 3 passages talk about Satan. In the past, i always learned that Satan is the devil, the father of lies, an evil spirit that does all sorts of evil, that tempts, etc. All these knowledge of Satan are simply floating in my mind throughout my life, so superficial and simply just a head-knowledge. I never realise the true vulnerability of everyone of us every single day every single second until today. As mentioned, and i repeat again , that i "know" all these things. it's only today that i truly understand for myself these truths that i have been learning in Sunday school and ywav all this time.

After reading thru these psges, there was a sense of fear and burden in my heart. there were 3 things that i learnt today:

1) Satan accuses the followers of Jesus Christ everyday, day and night

2) Satan persecutes us as followers all day long

3) Satan lies. And his deceit can be so convincing and subtle that we human beings fall into that trap so very easily . The worse thing is, sometimes, we dont even realise that we have fallen into his trap because we are so caught up with our own lives and selfish desires.

These 3 truths taught me that spiritual warfare is happening now, right this very moment, everyday and night. Satan is doing his job of accusing and lying to us all the time! this thought is such a scary thought. It just makes me realise that we humans are very vulnerable. It is the extent of vulnerability that scares me. We are very powerless in the face of Satan's attacks. This made me see now that we truly need God. NEED is the word. we will never be able to survive out there without God. because we do not have the power to fight against the forces of evil. That is also why it is so important to keep close to God and with the fellowship of believers because there is power in numbers. If we are alone and not in the fellowship of believers, it is so many times easier for Satan to bring you down.

Further, the knowledge of God's Word is very essential. Because Satan is deceiving us all the time, it is so important to KNOW and BELIEVE God's word. Knowing is just one thing. But to believe it's another. Knowing involves just the mind. Believing involves the heart. Remember that! Also, receiving God's word into your life brings you closer to God. and when you are close to God, it means that the evil one will not be able to touch you.

On top of that, i learnt now why God keeps stating in the Bible that prayer is so important. and why Jesus is always praying for us in heaven. i understand now why we NEED to pray. prayer moves the hands of God. prayer tears down the forces of evil. prayer means contact with God and therefore, POWER through God to handle anything that comes . prayer is just so essential. Remember the sermon preached that Jesus was unable to do much in his hometown because of the people's lack of faith? this too is one of the reasons why prayer is important. because prayer shows that you care. If you do not bother to pray, why should God bother to work?

Through this devo, i also came to understand the urgency to spread God's Word. I felt sad and disturbed thinking of the millions in hell. burning leh. day and night leh! can u imagine if you're one of the people there burning? wouldnt u have hoped that someone had tried harder in reaching out to you when you were still alive? I truly feel that christians are sometimes very selfish. It's enough to know that I am saved. We don't see the urgency or need to share and reach out. I am guilty of that. and i am angry with myself for how selfish i am. How can i ever think or behave like that!! we're talking about not just lives, but SOULS here! SOULS!

i pray truly, that God will convict the hearts of many christians who are sitting on the fence . merely a handful of christians doing the job is insufficient. there are SO MANY out there who need Jesus. The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. how true.
