just returned from Beijing few days ago.. it was a great eye-opener. wonderful place. i'm so thankful to be able to learn more abt my roots .. the ancient ppl are truly smart and clever and skillful. one can only wonder how they can ever complete such beautiful,simple, and yet durable structures! evolutionists say that human beings started from dumb ppl, slowly becoming smarter and smarter. all that i witnessed show me THAT is NOT TRUE. cheh!

anw, i've also observed some interesting sights abt china and their habits:

1. their driving is crazy. to overtake the car in front, they can simply drive on the next lane which is going in the OPPOSiTE direction, in the face of oncoming traffic.

2. traffic lights are just a show. we watch out for cars. not the other way round.

3. the drivers use their honk for many reasons: -to warn -to rush the car in front -to warn pedestrians.

4. ah peks like to roll up their shirts to air their stomachs.

5. the young ppl don't mind PDAs.

6. some men like to grow long fingernails on their last finger. even young guys

7. shopkeepers and even air hostesses (i think it's just their way of getting ard things)prefer to lie than to tell the truth whenever they don't want to help u. e.g. in a restaurant, we asked for a cup of ice. and 1 waitress said that the ice machine is spoilt so can't. but the funny thing is we could order ICE COFFEE. so we asked another waitress and true enough, the new waitress gave us a cup of ice.

8. shopkeepers who are not from beijing will glare at u and give u the attitude if u request for anything more or spend too long in their shop. e.g. one lady slammed the drawer in our faces when my mum simply wanted to pay with coins. come on lady! it's still money

9. the heat KILLS. 38 deg celsius.




and last but not least, although some habits of the people there aren't really comprehensible, but the majority of the population are pretty nice. i've witnessed scenes that remind me that hey they are as human as we are. e.g. mothers piggy-back their children... it's just that we are brought up differently. perhaps if we were placed in their condition we'd be worse off! my dad always tells me that because these people have to fight to survive, it made certain characteristics of theirs very apparent to those foreigners who do not go through the same things as they do. we should be more gracious and understand them by not looking at them through tainted glasses.

those were just a few items that i couldnt understand. but all in all, i do think that my perception of the chinese in china is getting better. =) yeah!
